What It Takes To Be A Drummer – Do You Have It?

What does it take to be a drummer

Being a drummer is awesome!

It’s great fun and a wonderful way to spend your time.

However, that’s just one side of the medal.

Let’s be honest:

Learning a musical instrument isn’t always cupcakes and rainbows.

That’s why people often ask me:

Do I have what it takes to be a drummer?

If this question applies to you as well, read on.

What Does It Really Take To Be A Drummer?

There are many superb reasons why people want to start playing the drums, including

  • being more creative,
  • add some more fun to their lives,
  • discover new ways to relax or challenge themselves.

But what does a drummer have to bring to the table in the first place?

I’d like to make it short:

There’s definitely no restrictions on learning to play the drums.

In my opinion, EVERYBODY can do it.

You, me, your best friend …

It doesn’t matter.

If you want to start drumming, you can.

Why not, after all?

Sure:

You might not know how to read drum notes (yet).

Or you don’t have a clue where to start.

That’s totally normal, especially if you haven’t learned any musical instrument so far!

The good news is:

Basically, you’ll learn everything you need to know about playing the drums over time.

Professional drum lessons (and a teacher that matches you) will greatly simplify this for you.

Sure, you can teach yourself to play the drums as well.

However, I recommend the “taking lessons way” for most beginners.

There are simply many benefits to it that you can’t ignore.

Plus:

You’ll sure notice that you have what it takes to play the drums.

Speaking of!

Why Not You?

I’ve been playing the drums for over 15 years now.

As a professional teacher with over 10 years of experience, I’ve taught hundreds of students how to play.

Never did I see anybody not be able to learn how to drum during this time.

Anybody!

Sure:

Some drummers are more skilled than others.

That’s normal, because not everybody wants to be a professional drummer.

Regardless of one’s individual skills, however, EVERYBODY learned how to play the drums sooner or later.

So, why not you?

I’m a 100 percent sure you have what it takes to be a drummer.

Invest in the essentials, give it a try and see what happens.

And yes, you could be awesome at your own drumming style!

Or maybe you don’t enjoy playing the drums that much after all.

Either way, it is worth trying.

You simply don’t know if you have what it takes unless you take action.

And I might sound harsh, but let’s be real:

How should you know whether you can play the drums if you’ve never done it before?

Our minds are often making things up.

It’s wise to question your thoughts from time to time.

Still not sure if you have what it takes to be a drummer?

You’ve got some options:

  1. Talk to a drum teacher and explain your situation. She or he will help you.
  2. Find a drum kit and play. There are rehearsal rooms you can rent for one or two hours.
  3. Write a comment or send me an email. I’m glad to help you as well.
  4. Get inspired by drummers on YouTube or at concerts until you can’t help trying it yourself.
  5. Talk with people who are not biased. Maybe they can offer some practical advice.

As you can see, there are many ways to find a helpful answer.

Start taking action and find yours today!

Cheers,
