What’s The Best Part Of Playing The Drums?

Playing the drums best part opinion

What’s the best part of playing the drums?

That’s a question that literally popped up in my mind.

Some time ago, I wrote about the hardest part of being a drummer.

Today, it’s time to shift our focus.

That’s why I’m going to share my opinion on what’s the best part of drumming.

The Best Part Of Playing The Drums? Actually, This Question Is Harder To Answer Than I Initially Thought

Drumming enriches your life on many levels.

For this reason, it’s actually quite hard to pick out THE best part of playing.

However, I’ll still give it a try:

The first thing that comes to my mind is the fun or pleasure drumming adds to your everyday life.

Simply having a great time is a huge factor why people love to play the drum kit.

And I definitely agree. 🙂

However, there is more to playing the drums.

Much more.

Get Ready For Your Rhythmic Holiday!

Another wonderful benefit of playing the drums is its stress-relieving character.

Drumming or making music in general can feel like a short holiday you can enjoy on a regular basis.

Sometimes, you don’t even need to leave your home to enter your “rhythmic relax zone.”

Just sit down on your drum throne and enjoy the ride.

But even relaxation or less stress does not feel like THE best part of being a drummer.

What is it, then?

Being Who You Are – Also Musically Speaking

One of my former drum teacher once told me:

“Manu, you play the drums the way you are.”

Does this make sense?

I guess.

Making music is a superb way of expressing yourself.

You can be creative, or strictly follow the rules of drumming.

It’s up to you.

Plus:

No two drummers on earth sound the same.

We all have our own unique drumming style or voice.

Personally, I really love this aspect of playing the drums.

That’s one of the best parts for me.

But not THE best part yet.

Finally! The Best Part Of Playing The Drums Is …

… playing the drums!

That’s it?

Seriously?

Yes! 🙂

I could continue writing about the many, many benefits of drumming.

But does playing the drums really need to have a goal to be worth your time?

Or, again, offers you other benefits like reduced stress or more self-esteem.

Isn’t the best part of playing the drums actually just doing so?

Yes, we can definitely argue about that.

However, I really think the process of learning how to drum is the best part of it.

Let’s be real:

If drumming wasn’t that fun, we wouldn’t do it.

Right?

Playing the drums is awesome because drumming is awesome!

That’s the best part of it.

Or what do you think?

And yes, I know:

My conclusion could be unsatisfying for some.

But still, think about it.

  • Why do you practice regularly or even daily?
  • What’s the reason why you started drumming in the first place?
  • And why did you stick to your sticks, even if times are rough?

For me, these questions are worth thinking about.

What about you?

I’d love to hear what’s the best part of playing the drums in your opinion. 🙂

Cheers,

Manu
