About The Best Drum Set & Where You Can Buy It

Buy best drum set

What is the best drum set? Oh, this is a great question!

In this article, you’ll find the answer to it.

Plus: I tell you where you can buy this dream drum set.

Let’s dive in, shall we? 🙂

What The Best Drum Set Has In Store For You

The best drum set – electronic AND acoustic – is

  • sturdy,
  • easy to handle
  • and great fun to use.

It makes your drum practice time as easy as possible.

Also, the best drum set for you as a striving musician matches your

  • ergonomic needs,
  • it looks good and
  • sounds equally great.

Did I forget anything?

Yes!

The best drum set also has to match your budget.

It must also be the right size for your rehearsal room or your apartment.

So, that’s it in terms of features for now.

But what is the best kit?

Drum Roll Please, For The Best Drum Set Worth Your Cash

I won’t lie to you: There is no thing such as the best drum kit for everybody.

Unfortunately, I can’t simply put up my links on here and tell you:

Buy this drumming equipment and I guarantee you’ll become a great drummer by the end of this year.

This doesn’t work.

And the reason is clear:

Drum sets are naturally individual music instruments. You can add cymbals, gimmicks and small percussion just as you like.

This goes for e drums and acoustic kits as well.

Also, the taste in terms of sound, material and height differs.

I’ll give you an example:

My height is around 163 cm, or 5 feet and 4 inches.

This means, the best drum set for me is a smaller one.

I really like my bass drum to be 20 ” or at max 22 “.

A 24″ drum simply doesn’t work for me (not even with the best seat).

I just couldn’t reach the toms on top of it properly.

And yes, I know that first hand.

I actually had to play a gig on a kit like this.

Don’t ask, it wasn’t one of my best concerts …

So if you’re a smaller person in terms of height like me, I’d advice to go for a more compact drum set.

Also keep in mind that electronic drums could be an interesting choice, too.

Sure:

I know many people don’t see them as “real” drums. However, I disagree.

They are a different music instrument, but also a great choice if they match your needs.

Where You Can Buy The Drum Kit Of Your Dreams

As with almost everything, you can buy the best drums online.

However, it’s not the best idea, in my opinion.

I really think you should be able to play on your instrument first.

Each drum set has a different feeling or vibe to it.

If you’re buying your instrument online, you might go for a surprise.

Also remember that you won’t get a delivery of a pre-built kit.

You have to set your drums up, when you buy them new.

This means:

To be able to test a drum kit you bought online, you have to set it up.

This will take up at least one or two hours.

It could even cost you more time when you’ve never done this before as a drum beginner.

Tried & Tested Tips For Buying The Best Beginners Drum Set

As a beginner behind the kit, everything might seem a bit overwhelming.

I’ve been there, too.

Everybody has.

So, stay optimistic!

The following tips are going to help you buy the drum instrument meeting your personal needs.

Of course, they are no means of any guarantee.

As I don’t know you, I’m simply not able to give you a 100 % suitable advice for you.

1 Don’t buy something because others tell you to do so. Instead, test the gear for yourself and decide whether it meets your needs – or not.

2 Do consider buying your drum set from a local music shop instead of simply ordering it online. You can do both, of course.

But remember: Purchasing your kit locally gives you the opportunity to test it right before you even consider buying it for the most reasonable price.

3 Check out used drum sets, too. It doesn’t have to be a brand new one. This is the case for acoustic kits as well as electronic drum sets.

4 Do some serious research. If you stumbled upon this drumming blog of mine, you’re already applying this tip. Keep on searching for more!

There are many great articles helping you find a great drum set as a beginner like this one

or this one

Read all about what an overall great drum kit has to offer in terms of material or usability. Also, don’t hesitate to ask questions if you need to get an answer.

But also take action by saying yes to an instrument at some point. The thing is:

5 Bought is better than perfect. I know, finding the best drum set for you takes some time. So to be able to really start making music, you have to make a decision.

The good news is: Drum kits in general are very versatile. This means, you can adjust the heads or your cymbals anytime.

So don’t look for your set for years on end. Simply make a decision and start drumming! You can always change your mind. And of course: It doesn’t have to be an expensive kit getting you started.

But!

6 Don’t settle for a low-quality drum set. You know, the best drum set meeting your needs can be cheap or expensive. It can be made of this or that material. Also, the instrument can be new or used. Or acoustic and not electronic.

However, it shouldn’t be of a low quality.

That’s the only thing I say is a must when purchasing the best drum set.

Feeling not sure about your favorite set?

Do some research again and ask drummers using the kit you’re interested in what they think about it.

You can also read trustworthy reviews online.

(The ones by musicians and not solely marketers or sales people.)

Good Luck On Finding Your Perfect Match!

Playing the drums is a wonderful way to spend your time.

However, that’s only the case if your instrument suits you.

I know, I know:

It’s the musician making sound his or her drums awesome.

And you bet, I totally agree.

However, being able to rely on the best drum set for you really simplifies your learning process.

Imagine it like this:

You’re 5 feet and 4 like me and have to play kit made for 7 foot people. Is this size helping you?

Not at all.

So make sure to do some more research on your potential best drum set.

Read buying guides on blogs and magazines.

Also, ask questions related to the kit before buying it.

And don’t forget:

Playing the set you think of purchasing is REALLY helpful.

You can do this at local stores and – of course! – when looking for used drums in your neighborhood.

Wishing you all the best finding the drum set of your dreams!

Cheers,

Female drummer
